The Rieti diocese was established when the process of spreading Christianity, started from the first centuries in the entire Rieti-Sabine territory, was definitively complete: the series of Rieti bishops, inaugurated according to tradition around the middle of the first century by St. Prosdocimo, only occasionally records the names of other prelates at the head of the local Church.
