Yancey County was named in honor of a most distinguished statesmen, Bartlett Yancey, of Caswell County. It is located in the northwest area of the state. Register of Deeds has birth, marriage and burial records. Clerk of Superior Court has divorce records from 1875, prpbate, court, land records from 1870.
