About Me
My personal family history research started as a hobby over 30 years ago researching our ancestors and finding their place in history.
As a professional genealogist I enjoy the challenges clients often present, as well as the opportunity to pull all my research together, within the context of its social history, presenting it in a narrative format.
I can visit archives located in Brisbane including the Queensland State Archives, State Library of Queensland and the National Archives facility in Brisbane. Some research areas I am particularly interested include - Colonial Australia, Australian convicts, Irish emigration, mariners and using genetic genealogy to locate unknown ancestors. I have been using genetic genealogy since 2014, finding it an invaluable tool alongside traditional research.
I have listed Australia, Ireland & the UK as my main areas of research but both my personal and professional research have included Canada, USA, Jamaica & New Zealand.
For several years I have been researching a one-name study on the surname Foote.
