The military archive department is based in the southern Baden university town of Freiburg. The holdings of the Military Archives Department include the transmission (in particular factual files, maps, construction plans, photos) of government military bodies from 1867 to the present: the surviving documents of the Prussian-German Army, the Imperial Navy, the Schutztruppen and the Freikorps, the Reichswehr and the Armed forces.
