National Archives of Germany (Bundesarchiv Berlin) (Germany)

The Federal Archives have the legal mandate to secure the archives of the federal government in the long term and to make them available for use. Generallandesarchiv Karlsruhe (Germany)

The traditional department of the General State Archives Karlsruhe is today responsible for the records of the state authorities and courts in the administrative district of Karlsruhe and the regional federal authorities located there. The historical core of this department, housed in a functional building completed in 1905, is the tradition of the margraves of Baden, the archives of the bishops of Speyer and Konstanz, parts of the episcopal archives from Strasbourg and Basel, archives of the orders of knights and, above all, many archives of abolished monasteries such as Salem, Reichenau, St. Blasien, St. Peter, Schwarzach or Frauenalb. Most of the approximately 130,000 documents come from these monasteries.

Church Archive in Magdeburg (Germany)

The regional church archive in Magdeburg manages the historical records of the former Evangelical Church in the ecclesiastical province of Saxony within the Evangelical Church in Central Germany (EKM). The latter merged in 2009 with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Thuringia to form the EKM and is thus only a historical entity. The Evangelical Church in the Rhineland is the second largest German regional church. Their area coincides with the former Prussian Rhine Province. Lviv State Archives (Ukraine)

The archives was created in November, 1939, as the Central Archives of Ancient Deeds in Lviv. It consolidated three major archives that existed in Lviv up until the Second World War,- the Archives of old deeds of the city of Lviv, the Zemsky archives, and the State archives, as well as a number of well-known corporate and private collections.

The State archive of Kyiv oblast was founded on 29th of May in 1922 and as the Kyiv Central Historical Archives. In 1932, since Kyiv oblast was formed, Kyiv Central Historical Archives was transformed to Kyiv Oblast Historical Archives (the funds of Kyiv Central Historical Archives and Kyiv District Archive Administration were joined). The earliest documents of the State Archives of Odesa Region are the unique orders of Polish origin for XVI- XVII ct., collected by the Professor of the Novorossijski University O.Markevych. First of them written in Latin and stamped with red sealing-wax is dated by 1572.

The history of the State Archives of Kherson region dates back to April 2,1921, when Kherson District Special Archive Commission was founded that was under subordination of Mykolaiv Government Archives Commission, since 1922 - under Odessa Government Archives Administration. In November 1925 was founded Kherson District Archives Administration which was reorganized in the Municipal Archive Administration in October 1, 1930. On February 26, 1932 the Archives Administration was reorganized in Kherson State Historical Archives, which since March 5,1938 had been subordinated to Mykolaiv Regional Archives Administration attached to the Peoples Commissariat of Internal Affairs.

State Archives of Rivne Oblast (Ukraine)

The main part of the archives documents is comprised of documents pertaining to the period when the region was a part of Russian Empire (1796-1917). First of all, these are the documents of local self-governments: the city council of Dubno, town councils and boards, documents of povit courts and courts of the peace, police headquarters, Land Surveying Commissions, educational establishments, where is the information about social and economic situation of the regional population, development of handicraft and trade.

State Archives of Poltava Oblast (Ukraine)

The State Archives of Poltava Region is the largest treasury of documents on the history of Poltava, which houses more than 6910 collections, 1,310,000 records. The oldest document dates of 1693. There are three unique documents (universals of Ukrainian hetmans Ivan Mazepa, Kyrylo Razumovskyi and Skoropadskyi).

State Archives of Cherkasy Oblast (Ukraine)

The first government archival institution, the Central National Archives, was founded in Cherkasy in April 1919. The Cherkasy District Archives were founded in 1925. With the abolition of districts in September 1930, the Cherkasy District Archives were reorganized into the Cherkasy District Archival Administration in October of 1930. In 1932, it was reorganized into the Cherkasy State Historical Archives, which became a branch of Kyiv Region State Archives in 1941. It incurred great losses during Nazi occupation of Cherkasy.

The collection of the Archive of the pre-1939 period consist of documents from the Sacred Cathedral of the Assumption Lavra at Pochayiv (1557-1939), copies of Russian, Austrian and Prussian official acts, which relate to the first division of Poland, copies of the decrees of Empress Katherine II, concerning joining of the regions to the Russian Empire as the result of the second and third divisions of Poland (1793-1795), the Manifesto of Austrian Empress Maria-Teresa, concerning joining of the part of Polish Kingdom to Austria, copies of credentials of Polish King August II, decrees and orders of the Volyn Sacred Consistory, copy Suvorov’s reports concerning victory over French troops (1799), orders of Warsaw-Kholm and Volyn Sacred Consistories (1834), a document giving permission to Taras Shevchenko to sketch the Lavra and local countrysides (1846), documents associated with thecollection funds to construct monuments to Khmelnytskyy and Kutuzov, protocols of meetings of the Sacted Sobor (1840-1925), documents concerning typography, statistical data about Lavra, its premises, enterprises and landholdings, revision registers of serfs (1833).

State Archives of Zhytomyr Oblast (Ukraine)

State Archives of Chernihiv Oblast (Ukraine)

Documents representing the era of Rzeczpospolita are contained in the funds of the Commission on collection of the tenth grosz donation for troop maintenance in Bratslav district, in the funds of the Bratslav Magistrate and Director of Schools in Podillia Gubernia.

The oldest records date back to 1787-1789. They are unique Records of Mykolaiv construction (1787-1798) about the foundation of Mykolaiv as a centre of shipbuilding in the south of Ukraine.

The formation of the archives in Podillya began in April, 1922 with thе creation of Kamyanets-Podilsky District Archives Administration. Since 1925 it was called the Kamyanets District Archival Administration, in 1930 after the liquidation of districts it was called the Kamyanets-Podilskyi Local Archival Administration. In 1932 at the Vinnytsya Regional Executive Committee the Regional Archival Administration was founded and the Vinnytsya Regional Historical Archives, the Kamyanets-Podilskyi, Proskuriv, Berdychiv, Uman Historical Archives were subordinated to it.

State Archives of Chernivtsi Oblast (Ukraine)

The archives contain the documents of establishments, organizations and enterprises, which existed on the territory of the Northern Bukovyna and the former Khotyn district of Bessarabiyan region of Russia from 1775 till the period of the reunion with the UkSSR, and those of Chernivtsi region of Ukraine (1940- 1941, 1944- 2007).

State Archives of Zaporizhzhya Oblast (Ukraine)

State Archives of Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast (Ukraine)

The archives preserve documents about the history of the Western Ukrainian People Republic (ZUNR, 1918 – 1919) and about western Ukrainian territories in the Polish Rzech Pospolita (1752 – 1772), in the Austrian Empire (after 1867- Austro-Hungarian Empire) from 1772 to 1918), in Poland (1919- 1939), from periods of its temporary occupation by Russia in the First World War and by Germany in the Second World War, also as part of the Stanislaviv (Ivano-Frankivsk) Oblast after the reunification of Western Ukraine with the USSR (1939 – 1991), as well as а part of independent Ukraine (1991- 2006).

State Archives of Transcarpathian Oblast (Ukraine)

The documents till 1946, which are kept in the town of Beregovo, reflect the historical past of the region at the times of its being a part of other states. The first original document is dated back to XIV century. Diplomas of European monarchs from the XV - XVI centuries have been preserved.
